What an amazing God we serve. The world calls it a “fluke” or “coincidence” and yet there is irony in those descriptions. The one thing that the scientific world has proven is that the universe exists. Beyond that fact, they cannot explain the complexity of it all. I marvel at the unwillingness of humanity to believe that a Master Creator Could have formed the universe and would rather believe happenstance versus intelligent design.
We know, that God created the heavens on the very first day: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1) This is the foundation of what we now call the universe! In scripture, Psalm 147:4, it states that He placed the stars in the sky and He knows them by name (paraphrased). But yet, with eyes wide open men follow after fables. I want to share with you my experience this week as I witnessed the eclipse and observed the secular commentary about the event.
Seeing the eclipse was extraordinary and it quickened my soul to experience the majesty of God. A program on KNME Nova series had a special about the eclipse the evening of after the event. I was moved when the commentator mentioned that during the full eclipse the sun’s corona can be seen. A corona is a crown. Is it coincidence that the sun that gives us life and sustains us has a crown and the giver of eternal life, Jesus, is our King. Make no mistake God created everything and the eclipse is a beautiful spectacle of His power, majesty, and intelligent design.
Do you see the correlation? If not, I will give you a couple of examples. When a painter creates a masterpiece you can pick out his work easily because his signature, not just his name, but his style is evident in every piece of art produced. Likewise, God’s artistry is displayed in creation. That is why you can look at leaf in the sun light and it has veins. We have veins. Another more common mistake, is when you look at monkeys. We are similar, not because we are descendants, but because the creator left His fingerprints on creation. One more. Birds can talk, they mimic sounds, and yet they are not our relatives either. I could go on and on, but I won’t. I will suffice to say that the Master Creator’s fingerprints are all over creation. The connection: The sun is the primary natural source that sustains life and without it we will perish. The Son is the source of eternal life and without Him we will certainly perish.
On the day Jesus was crucified, the sky darkened. He gave up His life to the Father and a solar eclipse occurred. I heard a lot of people say that when the total eclipse occurred it was eerie. Of course it is! God’s power humbles us to know that He is in control. The difference between them and us (believers) is that we can see how truly amazing this gift of eternal life really is and eternity is now!
I am compelled to join creation in declaring the glory of God: “the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.” (Psalm 191-2)

Remember, no matter what you are going through. God is on the throne and He loves YOU! Afterall, He died for your sins.
